This brought back a lot of memories for me because I was a DJ on my college radio station in 1984. I was surprised that there weren't a lot of songs on the list that I don't like. I had one strike-out, and that might be due to my dislike for the band in general. There were a lot of songs that made me say "eh," though. I guess I'm more of a rogue nerd. Some of my interests aren't typical nerd fare (horse racing, rock music), but my depth of knowledge of them is nerdy.
The most interesting question was the one about MC Escher. I said no to it, but I wasn't about to wade through every "MC" I'd ever heard of to think of my favorite.
Hmmm....how about The MC5? I'll call them my favorite MC. Back in the USA is a great album.
And my high school didn't even have an A/V club. I suppose the "In The Know" team (local high school Quiz Bowl-type TV show) could substitute.
Another possible question: can you name the song Weird Al is parodying? You get W&N points if you can't. I can't. My ears basically shut off all pop music around the year 2000 or so. I'm very tired right now. Jamie and I went to Mad Mex last night and I had three margaritas. It usually takes me a day to recover after drinking. But we sat and talked about everything, and we need to do that.
Today, I found another speaker for the upcoming Mensa Regional Gathering (Labor Day Weekend). The theme is "Food, Glorious Food." We're working hard on it, and it should be a great time. Be there or be somewhere else. I also walked the dogs over at Universal Park, fell asleep in front of the TV as Troy Aikman thanked everybody he ever met for helping him reach the Pro Football Hall of Fame, then woke up in time to see the Whitney Handicap.
Some of you may wonder why I don't post on LJ very much, except for replies and memes. Well, I'll tell you why. You see, I have no hands and it makes it hard to type. Just kidding. One reason is that I have been working on a novel, on and off, for the past year or so, and I try to devote any spare writing time toward the novel. Right now, I'm a bit stuck, as the plot suddenly went in a direction that I wasn't anticipating and I don't quite know where to go next.
Another reason is simply that I'm still not quite comfortable with exposing too much of myself in a public forum. (Get your minds out of the gutter--I didn't mean that literally....) I could really relate to a post made a week or so ago--I think it was by daeggman--that talked about how hard it is to reveal personal things, and cited the wonderful time he had in high school. I think that's a factor for me, too, but not the only one. I had a girlfriend in college who would probably say it's because I have the moon in Gemini opposite my ascendant, but she was wack.
In any case, I'll try to post more often. At least until I figure out where the novel's heading....

It seems like everybody's having a bad day, so I guess I should tell you about mine, too....
Today was actually going pretty well, aside from being concerned about Jamie. That was until I returned to my car in the shuttle lot (about a mile from where I work). I noticed that my keys were in the ignition, and the ignition was turned to the accessory setting. I had put the keys back in the ignition that morning to close the power windows. Then, in a rush to catch the shuttle, I forgot to take them out. (I did not notice this at the time, because I always carry two sets of car keys.) So, my car wouldn't start. I couldn't find the shuttle lot guard (it turned out he was helping a semi negotiate one of the other entrances). I called AAA and was told that a tow truck would be there "within an hour." I stood on the sidewalk on Meade Street, on the hottest day of the year, watching for the tow truck for almost an hour. Then the guard came up to me and said that I might be able to get a jump off the shuttle bus. The shuttle bus came, and it was a different model of bus (a limo-type bus that we call the "party bus") and I couldn't get a jump off it. Finally, two guys who were leaving volunteered to give me a jump. The tow truck showed up just as I was leaving.
Jamie and I are both dead tired.
